Happy Christmas from Taste of Bath! Anyone else wondering where the heck that year went?! 2018 has been so busy for us that it’s absolutely flown by, packed with all sorts of brilliant projects and milestones. As always, none of it would have been possible without our fantastic team, our family of extremely talented Taste of Bath producers, and all of our wonderfully supportive customers – so a huge thank you to you all!
So what have we been up to this year? We’re always seeking new opportunities to promote our brilliant producers and the outstanding quality of local produce in this area, and in the summer of 2018 we were really excited to be part of Pub in the Park, a huge music and food festival that came to Bath for the first time. As part of our involvement, we supplied each celebrity chef giving a demonstration at the festival with a hamper full of our bestselling goodies, a fantastic opportunity to introduce some of the country’s most brilliant and best-known chefs to Bath’s small businesses. Lots of them, including Emily King and Paul Ainsworth, were kind enough to share our hampers on Twitter, so it was another great way to put Bath on the map as a foodie destination! Find out more about our Pub in the Park adventures in our blog post here.
We launched our business gifting service at the end of 2017, and this year has seen it grow into a phenomenal success, both with local businesses who want to show off their roots with Bath-centric gifts for clients and partners, and with national and international businesses who simply love the outstanding quality of the produce in our gift boxes. In September, we held our first Annual Client Event at the Macdonald Bath Spa hotel, a glittering occasion to celebrate a whole year of business gifting with Taste of Bath. Over 150 guests attended to raise a glass with us, meet some of our amazing producers, and share an incredible menu of food and drink which starred some of our bestselling products. You can read our blog post all about the event here.
In autumn of this year, we were delighted to make the shortlist for Best Retailer at the Crumbs Awards, and in October we took a trip over to Bristol for the awards ceremony. Sadly we missed out on the top prize, but we were deeply honoured to make the shortlist out of a huge pool of talented entries – and we’ll be coming back again next year, of course… we were also incredibly proud to see so many winners from Bath which, after all, is much smaller than its city sister of Bristol – proof if it was needed that our home city is absolutely stuffed with talent when it comes to the food and drink industry. Check out our blog post here to find out more about lovely local winners.
Recently, of course, we’ve just finished arguably the biggest event in Bath’s calendar, the legendary Bath Christmas Market, where we had a whole new range of festive hampers specially created for the occasion, including our Micro Hampers (from only £12!) which have been a massive bestseller. Always an extremely busy time of year for us, this Christmas has broken all previous Taste of Bath records!
Naturally, it’s always onwards and upwards for us; we’re not really the resting-on-our-laurels type. 2019 will see the launch of Taste of Bristol, which is hugely exciting – Bristol is bursting with amazingly talented food and drink producers and we can’t wait to share them with you. For now, though, we’ve packed up all the final orders for 2018 and it’s time for a well-earned sit-down – someone pass us a gin and tonic…
